Probate and Estate Administration

When someone close to you dies you may need help to administer their estate (the money, property and possessions they owned and have left behind).  This will involve valuing and collecting in the assets, possibly obtaining Probate (the process of establishing the validity of the will and entitlement to deal with the assets) paying  debts or tax and  dividing the remaining estate amongst the beneficiaries named in the Will. There are lots of traps for the unwary and we can help you avoid these.

If you have been named as an Executor (the person named in the Will to administer the estate) our team can provide you with the necessary guidance and support to help you deal with the practicalities of administering the estate for which you have taken personal responsibility.

If, on the other hand, there is no Will (an intestate estate) and you are the family member who has stepped forward to look after matters on your family’s behalf, our team will talk you through the requirements and provide all the help you need to make sure you are able to administer the estate and ensure it is dealt with in the right way.

We can help with the more involved matters, such as completing the Inheritance Tax return, dealing with tax in the administration period and the preparation of Estate Accounts.

If required, we can also assist with the sale or transfer of any property or land or any of the other assets owned by the deceased, and to make the process easier for you.

Our aim is to make the administration and division of the estate as easy, as stress free and as straightforward as it possibly can be for you at such a difficult time.
